Flint River Ranch Dog Food
Flint River Ranch Dog
Food has been named as one of the Top Dry Dog Foods in America
by "The Whole Dog Journal" for the FIFTH year in a row!
Oven-Baked, resulting in better nutrition, palatability and
digestibility. Oven-baking changes hard to digest starches into
easy to digest dextrins, which are readily absorbed into your
dog's system. The good value is baked-in, not sprayed on.
Concentrated, so pet owners will find less odor and stool
clean-up.
By feeding Flint River Ranch quality products, you will be able
to see the difference in your pet's health, skin, coat, energy
level and quality of life-style.

The
original oven-baked puppy and adult dog food. The
Flint River Ranch Chicken, Rice, Lamb and Wheat formula
is nutritionally complete and balanced for all stages of
your pet's life according to AAFCO Nutrient Profiles for
Dog Foods.
Why FRR Ingredients Are
Special...
"You are
what you eat" applies to pets as well people.
AAFCO Nutrient Profiles
Their profiles and protocol testing are the recognized
industry authority on dog and cat nutrition for the
purposes of substantiation of nutritional adequacy in
commercial pet foods. All Flint River Ranch pet diets
are formulated to exceed their requirements for
nutrition.
Definition of Meal
Meal means reduced in size. Our meal is meat (never
by-products) that is cooked, most water removed and
reduced in size (ground) in order for a more uniform mix
of the meat, grains, vitamins and minerals.
Source Of Grains
Grains are purchased from major commercial suppliers
like General Mills, tested and retested by the finest
labs. This testing insures the very best quality and
reduces the possibility of toxic molds. Grain is
cheaper when purchased direct from the farm; however,
the risk of toxic mold is greater.
Wheat Grain
Whole wheat and selected parts of the wheat berry are
used as our base grain. The whole grain is ground into
two sizes. A fine ground whole-wheat flour as a binder
and a course ground whole wheat flour for texture. Wheat
grains are not only more digestible than corn, it is one
of the most nutritionally balanced cereal grains. It is
an easy-to-digest source of carbohydrates, fiber and
energy. A combination of grains, like a combination of
meat, is better than just one source.
Rice
Combination of brown and white rice. The white rice for
digestibility and the brown for its added nutritional
value. A diet that is 100% Brown Rice can be somewhat
hard for some animals to digest.
Low quality fillers like wood fiber, corncobs, peanut
hulls, cottonseed, straw, soybeans or citrus pulp are
not found in Flint River Ranch products.
Corn
Corn is an excellent grain; however, it is more
difficult to digest either by humans or dogs.
Therefore, corn is not an ingredient in our dog food.
The feline digestive system better utilizes corn and
supplies important diet benefits to cats and kittens.
Therefore, corn is included in the feline formula.
Flax
The different proteins in flax provide a high proportion
base of unsaturated essential fatty acids and dietary
fiber. Flax is recognized for its' potential in reducing
the risk of some chronic diseases; it helps improve
thickness and sheen of hair coat; it provides a great
benefit to oven-baked food as it resists oxidation from
the baking process and improves product shelf life.
Meat
Chicken meat is our base meat source, with the addition
of lamb and a small amount of fish. There are no
rendered by-products, intestines, heads, feet or
feathers in our formulas. The amino acids provided
by the meats are the basic building blocks of muscle,
skin, coat, bone, blood and the immune system.
Whole Chicken
Why don't you use whole chicken like some other
manufacturers? Remember that whole chicken is not like
you buy in the grocery store. Whole chicken labeled for
pet food is the whole chicken-including intestines,
heads, feet, bones, feathers and everything but the
cackle. No thanks.
Chicken
With all of our ingredients, we pay a premium price for
the very best available. Human quality, just like you
would feed your family. Chickens are purchased from
two sources in California and Utah-they are certified to
be hormone free.
Lamb
Lamb is range fed.
Fish
Fish is generally a combination of ocean white fish and
shark flesh. There is no tuna.

Adult Dog Food
- Dry
Since the food is concentrated, there is
more value with less food consumed.
Feeding oven-baked foods require 20-25%
less food than steam-extruded foods. Pet
owners will find fewer odors and stool
clean up. Dogs may require a little
adjustment over a period of time to
shrink their stomach and reduce their
food intake. Lightly cooked vegetables
of all types can help while the dog's
system adjusts. Improper feeding is the
greatest cause of a dog being
overweight, not the quality of the food.
Feed your dog once or twice a day. Have
plenty of fresh water available. Food
requirements vary depending on climate,
breed of dog and exercise activity. Feed
an amount that will maintain you dog's
weight. Following are suggested amounts:
| Dog Weight
|
Food per Day |
| 10-15lbs
|
0.6 to 1.0 cup
|
| 20-30lbs
|
1.0 to 1.5 cups
|
| 40-50lbs
|
2.0 to 2.2 cups
|
| 60-70lbs
|
2.5 to 3.2 cups
|
| 80-90lbs
|
3.5 to 4.2 cups
|
| >100lbs
|
4.0 to 5.0 cups |
It is better to introduce super premium
foods by mixing with your dogs usual
food and increasing the amount of Flint
River Ranch food over several days. It
will take time for your dog to adjust to
the super premium quality. A sudden
change in any food source may be a shock
to your dogs digestive system.

Feeding &
Storage
All pet food must be stored in a dry,
cool place and sealed to reduce the
chance of mildew spoilage and insect
infestation. Although these problems
appear in all food and pet food; it is
more frequent in natural pet foods.
- Keep products in their original
bag.
- Store bag in a bug-proof,
tightly fitted lid container.
- Do not store bags and boxes on a
cement or garage floor (moisture
picked up from the floors can lead
to deterioration).
- Roll down tops of open bags (to
prevent over-exposure to air).
With these simple steps, your Flint
River Ranch products will stay fresh for
the needs of your pets until your next
shipment.

Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia is low
blood sugar and is common in toy breed dogs. There are many
things which can bring on a bout of hypoglycemia including
stress, cold, not eating, fasting before vigorous exercise, and
intestinal parasites. Toy breed dogs from 6 to 12 weeks of age
are most commonly affected. After all, the puppy has recently
been weaned from its mother, wormed, vaccinated, given a bath,
had its nails trimmed, and often has gone into its new home.
Hypoglycemia is serious and in many cases pets may lose
consciousness and fall into a coma. Pets can die from
hypoglycemia if they do not receive treatment immediately.
The good news is that you can easily arrest the condition.
Treatment for hypoglycemia:
If you notice your pet is acting wobbly or weak try giving some
treats or canned food, anything you know your pet will eat. If
your pet won't eat, try giving it Nutrical or some sugar -- Karo
syrup works the best. Rub the syrup on the gums and under the
tongue if your pet is unconscious. If your pet is conscious and
can swallow you can give the sugar water with a syringe (no
needle). If your pet’s blood sugar drops it may also begin to
suffer with hypothermia, so you'll need to help keep your dog
warm with a heating pad, hot water bottle, and blankets.
Rubbing a puppy briskly with a towel also helps. Hypoglycemia
is very dangerous and can kill a dog if left without treatment.
Feeding:
Toy breeds should be fed 3 or more small meals a day to help
avoid hypoglycemia. If you have to leave your puppy for an
extended period, it is best to leave out some tempting food
(maybe canned). Some owners mix Karo syrup in the drinking
water, if you do this the water should be changed daily to avoid
bacteria growth. Always make sure you see your puppy eat
– do not assume he/she ate because the food was there.

Dehydration
If your puppy becomes dehydrated here is a
remedy you can make up yourself and give to the puppy with an
eye dropper. This works as Pedialite or Gateraide would for
children.
Electrolyte Substitute Tea
-
½ cup oats
-
½ gallon of water
-
1 teaspoon of salt
-
1/3 cup of honey
Heat the water until it boils. Then add
